Harriet Harrison

May 9, 1943 — June 12, 2022

Harriet Marie Harrison (Pursell), age 79, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022 with her
loving husband by her side. She was born on May 9, 1943 in Akron, Ohio to the late Harry and Nina Marie (Russell) Pursell.

Loving wife of Charles Harrison and caring mother to Scott (Sue) Harrison and Jeffrey (Pamela) Harrison. She was "Memaw" to her three grandchildren, Emily, Ty and Ryan. Harriet graduated from Kenmore High School in 1961. She married the love of her life, Charlie, on September 8, 1963. Together they created a beautiful life around their family and community. Harriet began her career at Central News Company in Akron. She then became general manager of their family owned business - Akron Sport Shack. She spent many years serving the community in this capacity and made many lifelong friendships with co-workers, vendors and customers. Upon retirement from the family business she became a full time caregiver to her parents ensuring the last years of their lives were met with compassion and care. This was something that came naturally to Harriet as she gave of herself and many remember her kindness and compassion no matter the situation.

Harriet spent many family vacations camping, boating and following her son to many baseball games across the country. She was an amazing cook that made the best peanut butter fudge, Texas sheet cake and homemade applesauce. Many enjoyed these creations, it was her special way of spreading love and joy to those she cared about. Harriet was also an avid baseball fan. You could find her and Charlie every spring at the Snowbird Classic volunteering their time hosting hundreds of baseball teams from across the country. She made many friendships with those she volunteered with and some became like family.

Eventually, Harriet and Charlie enjoyed their retirement days in Florida as snowbirds and eventually full time residents. For the past twelve years they resided in Talon Bay in North Port, Florida where Harriet enjoyed new friendships, ladies club events and many days of playing cards. Talon Bay holds a special place for Harriet as she became part of that caring community.
